Sections
Footer
The footer appears at the bottom of every page. It's made of blocks, such as menus and an email signup form, and a bottom bar with your copyright line, policy links, payment icons and selectors.
To edit it, open the theme editor and select Footer in the Footer area at the bottom of the sidebar. You can also add other sections to the footer area, such as Email signup or Apps.
Settings
- Color scheme: the colors of the footer.
Under Bottom bar:
- Policy menu: a menu of links shown next to the copyright line. Create a menu with links to your policy pages, such as your refund policy and privacy policy.
- Additional copyright text: shown after the store name and year.
- Show payment icons: shows icons for the payment methods you accept. They come from your payment settings in Settings > Payments.
- Show social media icons: shows your social media icons in the bottom bar. Add your accounts in theme settings.
- Show country/region selector: lets customers choose their country and currency. To add a country/region, go to your markets settings.
- Show language selector: lets customers choose a language. To add a language, go to your language settings.
Under Spacing:
- Top padding and Bottom padding: the space above and below the footer content, from 0 to 120px.
Blocks
On desktop, blocks sit side by side in columns. Brand information and Email signup are twice as wide as the other blocks. On phones, blocks stack.
Brand information
Only one per footer.
- Logo: a logo for the footer. Defaults to the store name when empty. A light version of your logo works well on a dark footer.
- Logo width: from 60 to 300px.
- Text: a short description of your brand.
- Show social media icons: shows your social media icons under the text.
Menu
- Heading: the column heading, for example "Shop" or "Help".
- Menu: the menu to show. The footer shows top-level menu items only.
Text
- Heading: the column heading.
- Text: any text, such as opening hours or a short note.
- Show social media icons: shows your social media icons under the text.
Email signup
Only one per footer.
- Heading: the column heading.
- Text: tell customers what they get when they subscribe.
Subscribers are added to your customer list in Shopify with the "newsletter" tag, and they're marked as accepting email marketing.
Contact details
Only one per footer.
- Heading: the column heading, for example "Customer care".
- Email: your support email address. Customers can select it to write to you.
- Phone number: your phone number. On phones, customers can tap it to call.
- Hours: when your team replies.
App blocks
Some apps add blocks to the footer, for example a trust badge or a loyalty program link. Select Add block to see the blocks from your installed apps.
Tips
- Keep each menu short. Five to seven links per column is easy to scan.
- The year in the copyright line updates on its own.
- On phones, the announcement bar hides its selectors. Customers find them in the mobile menu and in the footer, so keep at least one of those turned on.
