Pages
Cart
Unoque has a cart drawer and a cart page. Choose which one customers see in Theme settings > Cart > Cart type.
Cart drawer or cart page
- Drawer: when customers add a product, a panel opens from the side of the screen. They can change quantities, remove items and go to checkout without leaving the page. The cart icon in the header opens the drawer too.
- Page: when customers add a product, they go to the cart page.
The cart page at /cart works with both options. Customers who open it directly always see the full page.
Cart settings
Most cart settings are in Theme settings > Cart:
- Show vendor: shows the vendor for each item.
- Show order note field: adds an order note field. See Order notes.
- Show free shipping bar and Free shipping threshold: see Free shipping bar.
- Collection and Heading under Cart recommendations: see Suggestions in the cart drawer.
Free shipping bar
The bar shows how much more a customer needs to spend to get free shipping, with a progress bar. When the cart reaches the amount, it shows a message that free shipping is unlocked.
To set it up:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery and create a free shipping rate for orders over an amount, for example $75.
- In the theme editor, go to Theme settings > Cart.
- Turn on Show free shipping bar.
- In Free shipping threshold, enter the same amount without decimals or symbols, for example 75.
Tips:
- The bar doesn't change your shipping rates. Checkout charges what your shipping settings say, so keep both amounts the same.
- The bar compares the threshold with the cart total after discounts.
- The threshold is in your store currency. Customers who shop in another currency don't see the bar, because the theme can't convert the threshold. See Translations and markets.
- The cart page has its own Show free shipping bar setting in the Cart section. The theme setting turns the bar on or off everywhere. The Cart section setting lets you hide it on the cart page only. Both must be on for the bar to show on the cart page.
- To change the bar's text, use Edit default theme content. See the FAQ.
Suggestions in the cart drawer
The cart drawer can suggest up to four products under the cart items, each with an add button.
- Create a collection with products that customers often add, such as travel sizes or accessories.
- In Theme settings > Cart, under Cart recommendations, choose it in Collection.
- Enter a Heading, for example "You may also like".
Products already in the cart and sold out products are skipped. Products with options show a Choose options link to their product page.
Empty cart drawer
When the cart is empty, the drawer shows a message and a button. To change them, select the Cart drawer section in the theme editor:
- Color scheme: the colors of the drawer.
- Button label: the text on the button.
- Button link: where the button goes, for example your bestsellers collection.
- Suggested products heading: the heading above product suggestions in the empty drawer.
- Suggested products collection: up to four products from this collection show in the empty drawer.
To see your changes, open the cart drawer in the theme editor preview.
Cart page
To edit the cart page, choose Cart from the page selector in the theme editor. By default, it has two sections:
- Cart: the cart items and the order summary.
- Featured collection: products to complete the order. Choose a collection, or remove the section. Until you choose one, it shows example products in the theme editor and stays hidden on your live store.
Cart section settings:
- Color scheme: the colors of the section.
- Show free shipping bar: shows the bar on the cart page, above the cart items. It also needs Show free shipping bar turned on in theme settings, where you set the threshold.
- Top padding and Bottom padding.
Trust list block: up to three short lines with icons under the checkout button, such as "Secure checkout".
- First icon and First item, Second icon and Second item, Third icon and Third item. Leave an item empty to hide it.
- Icons: Lock, Truck, Return arrow, Shield, Leaf or Heart.
You can also add app blocks to the order summary.
Order notes
When Show order note field is on, customers can open an order note field in the cart, for example for gift instructions. Notes appear on the order in your Shopify admin.
Discounts
- Customers enter discount codes at checkout.
- Automatic discounts, and codes applied with a discount link, show in the cart. Discounts on an item show under that item. Discounts on the whole order show in the order summary, above the estimated total.
What else shows in the cart
- Variant options, such as size or shade.
- Subscription plan names, for products bought with a subscription.
- Line item properties added by apps, such as engraving text.
- Unit prices, when set.
- A note about taxes and shipping, based on your store settings.
- Dynamic checkout buttons, such as Shop Pay or PayPal, when your store offers them.
Customers can change quantities with the plus and minus buttons, or type a number. Setting a quantity to 0 removes the item.
