Sections

Blog, forms and app sections

Most sections on this page have these settings:

  • Color scheme: the colors of the section. See Colors.
  • Top padding and Bottom padding: the space above and below the section, from 0 to 120px.

Blog posts

Shows the latest posts from one of your blogs.

Settings

  • Subheading, Heading and Text: the text above the posts.
  • Heading alignment: Left or Center.
  • Blog: the blog to show posts from.
  • Posts to show: from 2 to 6.
  • Number of columns on desktop: from 2 to 4.
  • Image ratio: Landscape, Square or Portrait.
  • Show date: shows the date each post was published.
  • Show author: shows the author's name.
  • Show excerpt: shows the post's excerpt, or the start of the post if it has no excerpt.
  • Show view all link: links to the blog. With a left-aligned heading, the link sits next to the heading. With a centered heading, or no heading, a button shows under the posts.

Until you choose a blog, the section shows example posts.

Tip: add a featured image to every post. Posts without one show a placeholder illustration.

Email signup

A form where customers subscribe to your emails. You can add it to any page and to the footer area.

Subscribers are added to your customer list with the newsletter tag.

Settings

  • Image: an optional image beside the form.
  • Subheading, Heading and Text: tell customers what they get when they subscribe.
  • Button label: the text on the button, for example "Subscribe".
  • Disclaimer: small text under the form, for example how to unsubscribe. Check what your local email marketing laws require.
  • Style: Plain or Card. Card places the form in a box with its own colors.
  • Card color scheme: the colors of the box when Style is Card.

Tip: to send emails to your subscribers, use Shopify Messaging or an email marketing app.

Contact form

A form that sends customer messages to your store's contact email. It's used on the contact page, and you can add it to any other page.

The form asks for a name, email address, optional phone number and a message. Name, email and message are required.

Settings

  • Show page title and content: on a page with content of its own, shows the page's title and content instead of the heading and text below. Turn it off if another section on the page already shows them.
  • Heading: used when the page has no content, or when the section is on another kind of page. On a page, it's the page's main heading.
  • Text: tell customers how quickly you reply and what to include in their message. It shows with the Heading.
  • Show phone number field: adds an optional phone number field.
  • Button label: the text on the send button.
  • Card color scheme: the colors of the contact detail cards.

Contact detail block

Add up to four cards beside the form, for example your support email, opening hours or a WhatsApp link.

  • Icon: None, Mail, Phone, Clock, Pin or WhatsApp.
  • Heading: the card title.
  • Text: the details. You can add links.

Tip: messages go to the store contact email in your Shopify admin settings. Send yourself a test message after you publish the theme.

Custom Liquid

Adds your own Liquid, HTML, CSS or JavaScript code to a page. Use it for code snippets from apps or services that don't have an app block.

Settings

  • Liquid code: add app snippets or other Liquid code to create advanced customizations.
  • Make section full width: removes the side margins.

We don't support custom code that you add here. Before you add code, read Custom code.

Apps

A section that holds blocks from your installed apps, for example a reviews widget or an Instagram feed.

Settings

  • Make section full width: removes the side margins.

To add an app block:

  1. Select Add section > Apps.
  2. In the new section, select Add block and choose a block from your installed apps.

Many apps also have app blocks that you can add directly to the Product information section or the Footer. App embeds, such as chat widgets, are turned on under App embeds in the theme editor sidebar.
